I Support Affordable Housing and Housing Affordability

I’m proud to vote in favor of the town funding the Housing Affordability Study with HR&A Advisors, Inc. tonight. We have been talking about doing this for years, and while it did not get unanimous support, it’s finally going to move forward. HR&A has extensive experience and have they worked on other projects in our area such as the Wake County Affordable Housing Plan & Implementation, and the recent Apex Affordable Housing Plan. Their engagement process will include a Citizen Advisory Committee, a Steering Committee, Digital Engagement, Housing Stakeholders and Town Leadership outreach.A town needs to have housing choices for those who want to live, work and play in their community whether they are coming out of school, starting a family or wanting to retire (and every combination in-between). This is the right step forward to ensure we fulfil our vision to make this town great for generations to come.
